How do I plan my run’s weather by dropping a GPX into livedot?

Updated

In ChatGPT or Claude with livedot, attach your route’s GPX, say when you’ll start and your pace, and livedot works out the heat and wind along it at the time you reach each stretch: the forecast within 10 days, 10 years of weather on that date beyond. No account needed.

Ask it

  1. In ChatGPT or Claude, add livedot: search for it, or add it at https://livedot.me/mcp. See using livedot in ChatGPT and Claude.
  2. Attach your GPX file, or paste a Ride with GPS link or any public link to a GPX file. Strava links don’t work here.
  3. Say it’s a run, when you start and your pace: “How hot will this run be on Saturday at 6, at 5:30 per km?”

If you don’t say when, livedot asks. Without a pace, it times you at 6:00 per km. No account needed.

What you get

  • a rating, Good, Fair or Tough, and with a forecast, the reason;
  • the temperature at the start and the finish;
  • heat stress, from Low to Extreme. See heat stress levels;
  • the weather cost in minutes, with a forecast. See what the weather cost means;
  • rain, or for history, how many days in 10 had rain;
  • a map of the route, coloured by how hard the weather makes each stretch.

Within 10 days of your start it’s the live forecast from Apple Weather; further out, 10 years of weather on that date, labelled as history.

Then save it

Every answer links to RunFast. Signed in with your RunFast account, you can also ask livedot to save it as a run or race. See creating a run with livedot. For every kilometre at your pace, use Map your run.
