How do I map a run and see its weather?
Updated
Open runfast.tech/tool and drop in your route as a GPX, FIT or TCX file. Pick the day, your start time and your pace, and RunFast shows the weather cost, heat stress, feels like, dew point and rain for every kilometre, timed to when you’ll be there. It’s free, with no sign-up.
Map it
- Open Map your run.
- Tap Drop in your route and choose a GPX, FIT or TCX file, or drag the file onto the page. Routes up to 250 km (155 miles) work. See route files. Or, under the box, open the Comrades, Berlin, London or Boston for their past race-day weather. See past race-day weather.
- Pick the day: Today, Tmrw or one of the eight days after.
- Set Start, then your Pace with − and +, in 5-second steps. Switch between km · °C and mi · °F beside it.
The forecast fills in within a few seconds.
Read it
- At the top: the rating, the heat stress level, the weather cost, your start and finish times, and the reason in a line.
- The coloured bar: how much of your run is Ideal, A little slower, Hard or Very hard.
- The tiles: HEAT STRESS at its peak, FEELS LIKE from the start to the hottest point, DEW POINT at its stickiest, and RAIN.
- The profile: drag along it, or point at the route, to see any stretch: when you’ll be there, the temperature, dew point, heat stress and what it costs you.
- Kilometre by kilometre (or Mile by mile): open it for each kilometre’s time, split for the hills, air, dew point, rain and weather cost. Tap a row to find it on the map.
Then
- Share: choose Post or Story, then Share image, or Copy link. The link opens this run, route included.
- Save: keep it in your runs as a casual run or a race, signing in or creating a free account on the way. See adding a casual run.
- Fly the route: a 3D satellite flyover. See Fly the route.
- Email me the final forecast: the evening before and two hours before you start. See the evening-before email.
- Map another route to start again.
Your route stays with you
The file is read in your browser and isn’t uploaded or kept, unless you save the run or ask for the email. Only points along it are sent to fetch the forecast.
