How do I see the weather on past race days?
Updated
In Map your run on the web, open the Comrades, Berlin, London or Boston and choose Race days. Pick a year from 2015 to 2024 and set your pace, and RunFast shows the real weather that day, hour by hour, at the time you’d have reached each stretch. It’s on the web only, not in the app.
Open a race day
- Open Map your run and pick Comrades, Berlin, London or Boston.
- Race days is chosen. Pick a year: each shows its date, or for the Comrades whether it was an up or a down run.
- Set your pace. Your finish time shows beside it.
What you see
Everything a forecast shows, for the weather that really happened:
- the weather cost at your pace, and how the day rated;
- heat stress, feels like and dew point for every kilometre, at the hour you’d have reached it;
- the kilometre table and the coloured route;
- Fly the route with that day’s weather.
Each year uses that year’s date and start time. The Comrades runs in that year’s direction. Years a race wasn’t run, such as 2020, are left out.
Try your target time on a hot year and a cool one to see the range you might meet.
Where the weather comes from
Copernicus ERA5, the weather reanalysis scientists use: hour by hour, at the course, on race day. It’s the weather on the course, not a thermometer reading at the start line. See where the forecast comes from.
This year’s race
In race week, switch from Race days to Forecast for the next 10 days at your pace.
Running it? Add it to your runs as a race, with the route file from the race’s website, to get its forecast by email the evening before, your goal and live tracking. See adding a race.
On the web only
Past race days are in Map your run on runfast.tech, for these four races. The RunFast apps don’t show them.
