What is Fly the route?
Updated
Fly the route is a 3D satellite flyover of your run, with the climbs and the weather at your pace along the way. Map a run, then tap Fly the route. Press play, change the speed, drag along the profile, and colour the route by effort, wind or climb.
Open it
- On the web: map a run in Map your run, or open one of your runs or races (Open the forecast from its ⋯ menu in Runs). Then tap Fly the route.
- In the Android app: open a run or race from Runs, and tap Fly the route next to Go live.
It flies the day, start time and pace you chose. Open one of the four marathons in Map your run on a past race day, and it flies that day’s real weather. See past race-day weather.
Fly it
On runfast.tech:
- Play starts the flyover. Choose ½×, 1× or 3× for the speed.
- Drag along the profile at the bottom to jump to any point.
- Whole route pulls back to show all of it.
- The panel shows where you are: the kilometre, when you’ll be there at your pace, how hard the weather makes it, the feels like and dew point, the wind, the gradient, and the climbing done and still to come.
Layers
Open the layers to change what’s on the map:
- Colour the route by: Effort (the weather’s effect at your pace), Wind or Climb. See why the route is coloured.
- On the map: Feels like along the route and Landmarks, each on or off.
- Change the day or pace takes you back to your run.
At the finish
“You ran it” sums up the run. Choose Fly it again, or Back to your run.
Good to know
It’s free, with no account needed on the web, in any modern browser. The flyover loads satellite imagery and terrain as it goes, so a good connection helps.
