How do I add a race?
Updated
Choose New run, then Race. Drop in the race’s route file, give it a name, and set its date and gun time. Add your goal time and a few words of your own if you like, and turn on Live tracking if you want people to follow you on the day. Then choose Save the race.
Any race works, from a 5 km to an ultra. You bring its route, for example the GPX file the organiser sent you, and RunFast gives you its weather at your pace, your goal and live tracking.
Add it
- Open Runs and choose New run:
- On the web: sign in at runfast.tech/app.
- In the iPhone or Android app: the Runs tab.
- Choose Race: “Race day, at its gun time. Set your goal, and turn on live tracking so people can follow you.”
- Fill in the form, in this order:
- The route: drop in a GPX, FIT or TCX file, or bring it in from Strava. See route files.
- Name, such as “City half marathon”.
- Date and Gun time. A race is always on one day.
- Your goal time (optional), as hours and minutes, such as 1:45. See setting a goal.
- In your own words (optional): up to 60 characters, shown on your share picture.
- Live tracking: off unless you turn it on. See turning on live tracking.
- Your pace. It follows your goal: your goal time divided by the distance, rounded to 5 seconds. Without a goal, set it yourself.
- Email me its forecast the evening before, Where it starts and Notes.
- Choose Save the race.
Picked the wrong card? Change takes you back to the choice, until you first save.
What you get
- The weather at your pace, from 10 days before the race: the weather cost, heat stress, feels like and dew point for every kilometre, timed from the gun. See what the weather cost means.
- The forecast by email at 18:00 the evening before, where the race is.
- On your Runs list, the race shows Race · goal 1:45, and ● Live tracking while it’s on.
- On race day, go live from the RunFast app. See going live.
- The day after, it moves to Past, with your finish time against your goal if you went live. See Past.
A race with your club
If your club has added the race, don’t add it again: tap I’m in on the club’s page, then set your own goal and live tracking. See your goal and live tracking for a club race.
Change it later
Tap ⋯ on the race’s card and choose Edit. What is it? at the top switches it between Casual run and Race. Turning a race into a casual run turns its live tracking off. See casual run or race.
