How do I turn on live tracking for a race?

Live tracking is for races. A casual run doesn’t have it. See casual run or race.

Turn it on

1. Open the race’s form:
   • A new race: New run, then Race. See adding a race.
   • A race you’ve added: open Runs, tap ⋯ on its card and choose Edit.
   • A club race you’re in: tap ⋯ on its card and choose Your goal and live tracking. See club races.
2. Switch on Live tracking: “On race day, people follow you from your link: where you are, your pace, your finish and how you’re doing against your goal. You go live from the RunFast app.”
3. RunFast saves the race if it isn’t saved yet, and says “Live tracking is on. Share your link.”

It works the same on runfast.tech and in the iPhone and Android apps. It’s off for every new race until you turn it on.

What appears

1. Your link: runfast.tech/f/ and your code, with Copy. See your follow link.
2. Your share picture, with Share, Save the picture and WhatsApp: “Your photo, the race, your goal and the course. WhatsApp and socials show it with your link.” See sharing your live tracking.
3. Findable by anyone, off unless you switch it on: “Anyone can find you by your name, and you’re on the live map of your club’s races you’re in. Off: only people with your link can follow you.” See Findable by anyone.

Everything in the card takes effect at once. There’s nothing else to save.

If it won’t switch on

RunFast says what’s missing next to the switch, and leaves it off. For example:

• “Drop in the route first”
• “Set the gun time”

Fill it in, then switch on Live tracking again.

Turn it off

Switch off Live tracking. RunFast says “Live tracking is off. Your link doesn’t show this race.” Nobody can follow you on it, and you can’t go live on it.

Turn it on again later, and your goal and your Findable choice come back as they were.

On race day

Open the race in the RunFast app on your phone and go live. See going live.
