Can I follow a runner without an account or the app?

Updated

Yes. Open the link the runner sent you, runfast.tech/f/ and their code, in any browser on a phone or computer, and you see them live on the map straight away, with no account and nothing to install. The RunFast app on iPhone and Android follows without an account too, and can tell you when they start and finish.

In a browser

  1. Tap the link the runner sent you, for example in WhatsApp.
  2. They open on the live map: where they are, their pace, when they’ll finish, the heat where they’re running, and how they’re doing against their goal. See what the live map shows.
  3. To see everyone you follow later, open runfast.tech/follow or runfast.tech/live on the same device.

To add someone else, paste their link, or type their name, into the box on runfast.tech/follow and tap Follow. See following by name.

The runners you follow are remembered in that browser, on that device. Nothing about you is sent to RunFast. On another phone or computer, open the link again.

No link to hand? Watch the demo runner, who’s always mid-race. See the live demo.

In the RunFast app

  1. Open the app and choose I’m following someone, or open the Live tab.
  2. Paste the runner’s link, or type their name. You’ll see who it is.
  3. Tap Follow with their name. The app offers alerts for when they start, reach halfway and finish: tap Turn on alerts, or Not now. See alerts.

Follow links open straight in the app once it’s installed. With no account, RunFast knows your phone only by a random code the app makes, never your name or number. If you make an account later, the runners you follow come with you.

Before they start

You’ll see their race, their goal, their words and a countdown to the gun, or “Not running right now” if they’ve no race with live tracking on. The page updates by itself, so leave it open.

The runner may have reset it. Ask them for their new link. See a link that has been reset.
