Can I email a route to RunFast?
Updated
Yes. Email a GPX, FIT or TCX file from the address on your RunFast account to routes@runfast.tech, and it lands in your runs as a private draft, ready to set the date. Every file in the email becomes its own run. Zips and Ride with GPS links work too. It has to come from your account’s email.
Send it
- Attach the route file to an email, from any phone, computer or mail app.
- Send it to routes@runfast.tech, from the email address on your RunFast account.
- In a minute or so it’s in Runs as a private draft that only you can see. You get a reply with a link to open it, and a notification on your phone if you have the RunFast app.
Open it, choose Edit, and set the date and start time. Until you do, it’s on the next Saturday, at 07:00 where the route is. It starts as a casual run: to make it a race, choose Race under What is it? in the editor.
Your address to send to is in the web app, under Runs, with a Copy button.
Every file is its own run
Each route file in the email, or in a zip in the email, becomes its own run, named from the route in the file. Send five files and you get five runs, with one reply that lists them all, each with its own Open link.
What you can send
- GPX, FIT and TCX files, and zips of them. Up to 10 routes and 10 MB in one email, and up to 30 routes a day. Each route has to be between 300 m and 250 km, as in the app. See which route files work.
- A link in the email: a Ride with GPS route or collection, or a link to a GPX file. Strava and Komoot don’t let other apps read their routes: export the GPX and attach it instead.
- A forwarded email with the route files in it, such as a race’s route pack. Forward it from your own address.
It has to come from your account’s email
RunFast finds your account by the address the email comes from, and checks your email provider’s signature to be sure it was really you. If you send it from another address, the reply says so: send it from the email you use for RunFast, or sign up free with that address and send it again.
If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, emailed routes can’t be matched to your account yet. Add them in the app instead.
If a file didn’t go in
The reply lists the runs that were added and, for anything that wasn’t, why: a file with no route in it, a route over 250 km, more than 10 routes, or an email over 10 MB. The runs that worked are still added.
Is my email kept?
No. RunFast reads the routes from your email, makes the runs, and lets the email go. Your runs stay private to you until you share them.
