How do I export a run as a GPX file?
Updated
Open Runs, find the run in Past, and choose ⋯ then Export GPX, or open the run and choose Export GPX. You get a GPX file named after the run and its date, with the time of every point, ready for Garmin Connect, Strava or any app that opens GPX.
Export a run
- On the web: sign in at runfast.tech/app, open Runs, and open Past. On the run, choose ⋯ then Export GPX, or open its sheet and choose Export GPX. On the run’s own page, Export GPX sits under Your run.
- In the iPhone and Android apps: choose Export GPX on the finish screen when you end a run, or in Runs, on a past run, ⋯ then Export GPX. The share sheet opens, so you can save it to Files or send it to Garmin Connect, Strava, Mail or any other app.
Only your own runs have Export GPX, and only you can export them.
What’s in the file
A GPX file named after the run and its date, such as Sunday long run 2026-11-01.gpx. It has one track: every point of your run with its time, and its height when we have it. There’s no branding in it apart from RunFast as the app that made it.
Open it in Garmin Connect, Strava or any app that takes GPX files. See route files for bringing a GPX file the other way, into RunFast.
“Route only, no times”
When you finish a run, the app sends its whole track to RunFast once, and it’s kept with the run for good. That’s how Export GPX on the web gets the time of every point, even hours later. If the phone had no signal at the finish, the track goes the next time you open the app.
A run recorded before 4 November 2026, or one whose track never reached RunFast, has your route without times, and the file’s name ends in (route). Strava and Garmin Connect need the times to make an activity from a file, so use a route-only file as a route or course instead.
“This run’s track is no longer available”
There’s nothing left to build a file from for that run. You never get an empty file.
